IMPROVCAMP is an intensive, residential programme for high school students. It encompasses Improvisation, lifelong friendships and the outdoors all in one package!  IMPROVCAMP AUSTRALIA is unlike any other camp out there—it’s an exciting experience for students who are interested in improvisational theatre.

IMPROVCAMP has run in Canada for nine years to rave reviews and sold out programmes.  Australian’s got a taste in 2009 – 70 teenagers, 6 days, 9 trainers, 1 megaphone, 1 DJ, lots of dance parties, great food, workshops, classes, electives, performances equaled 100% success! – so it’s back!

By popular demand IMPROVCAMP AUSTRALIA has been extended from five days to seven! Young improvisers will receive comprehensive instruction in improvisational theatre by CIG professionals from all over Canada. The CIG crew will be assisted by AIPA and PW staff and it will be amazing!

Participants will be organized into ensembles (based on age and experience) and participate in multiple daily workshops, gaining skills and learning about their craft. There are performances or activities each night, and a heap of outdoor, team building activities to choose from. They said that 2009 was the ‘best camp ever’, just wait until you see what is planned for 2010.

Here's what some of the kids had to say about IMPROVCAMP 2009.

You have to go to Improvcamp! It is the best thing ever!!! Seriously!!  Man it is so worth it!  Why is it only on once a year? I would go every holidays.

From the minute I got up to the minute I fell asleep I didn’t stop smiling, learning and loving IMPROVCAMP.

I didn’t want to go to a camp in the holidays, but I did and it was f^7%ing amazing. The AIPA and CIG staff were great. I will be there in 2010.

It was AMAZING!! Thanks so much for giving me the experience of a lifetime. I gained life long friends from all over Australia (and Singapore) and skills which will always come in handy. THANKS HEAPS!!

IMPROVCAMP was by far the most rewarding and enjoyable experience I have ever had. I met so many great people and learnt so many new things. I would definitely recommend going in 2010... I will be!

IMPROVCAMP was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did I have so much fun, I also learnt so much about Improv and the way it's REALLY DONE!!!

IMPROVCAMP was the most awesome week I have ever had. It sounds a little crazy to go to a camp to 'learn how to improvise' but there are actually many things to learn about improvisation, and it is a whole lot of fun to do this…

I met some of the most amazing people whilst at this camp including the Canadian instructors and AIPA staff, and made so many great memories. It was an extremely encouraging, fun environment filled with friendly, the talented, and the kooky, I couldn’t have possibly asked for more.

“When I first heard about improvcamp I was just awestruck that such a wonderful experience was staring me in the face. I literally begged my parents to let me go and they finally agreed to fill out an application”.

“The only complaint I can possibly have about the camp is WHY CANT IT GO FOR LONGER??? If your considering coming, you should so do it! It’s the best choice you'll make. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.  See you there :)”

I loved IMPROVCAMP!!  It was such a great experience and I learnt so much I never knew before about improvisation. There were so many nice people and it was a real confidence builder. The activities and classes were great fun and I wish it had of lasted longer!  I will definitely enrol in IMPROVCAMP again!! :D

Imagine the most amazing camp in the world. A camp that teaches you everything you need to know about  everything.. the food is great, everyone is always friendly and you get 3 free shirts at the end of everything. Improvcamp '09 was awesome.

I already had previous experience in theatresports but learning CIG was undoubtedly a much more entertaining and interesting form of Improv.

The trainers were wonderful and not to mention hilarious. The people I met at the camp have become some of my closest friends and the activities we participated in were most memorable.  It truly was the best camp ever!!!

IMPROVCAMP was such a wonderful experience, from the moment I arrived everyone there was so friendly and willing to meet new people. The trainers were so helpful and enthusiastic ALL of the time. I learned a great deal over the week and had an enormous amount of fun.

This was an amazing experience that I would do again ten times over! The Staff were experienced and enthusiastic and was easily the best week of my life!-

I loved Improvcamp. It was the best camp ever. I learned lots about improvisation and made lots of friends.

Improvcamp was the best time of my life. I felt so comfortable with all the people, everyone was friendly, the instructors were great. The amount I learned about Improv in Canada inspired me. I'd recommend it to any drama enthusiast.

Improvcamp was fantastic, everyone is so much fun and the teachers are perfect. I was learning something all the time and being exposed to games I'd never seen before and the food is scrumptious. In Improvcamp you meet new people, learn so much and have so much fun!!!

IMPROVCAMP was literally the best camp ever. I hadn’t experienced Improv before, but it opened a whole new area for me to explore within performing. If I could recommend one thing for you to do, it is this!  I LOVE IMPROVCAMP! best.camp.ever!

At Improv camp I think I could easily say that it’s the BEST CAMP EVER. The other kids there you just seem to already know. The leaders are amazing with what they teach you, You learn so much in such a little time not only about Improv but about yourself as well.

I am definitely going each and every year until I'm too old.

I had no idea what to expect when I showed up but that made it all the more fun! I've never had so much fun, learnt so much and met so many amazing people in one week. I loved it and I would go back again any day!

Improvcamp was possibly the BEST decision I have made for myself in a long while. The teachers were truly amazing, wonderful and talented people. I appreciate and am eternally grateful for their dedication to this camp and all the knowledge they have put into my head about Improv and basically just having fun.

Fun activities during the day... fun activities during the night... what more could you ask for?! Of all the seconds I attended that camp, I was smiling.

It was delightful to meet other improvisers, my age, who got to experience Improvcamp with me, because to be honest, we'll all be friends for life. Even now, we still keep in contact via MSN or Facebook, ext. You learn to become very close to the people you are working with and I can thank camp the most for meeting these wonderful people.

At first I wasn’t too keen on attending this camp because I’ve never really been that spectacular at Improv, I’ve never really had the confidence to get up in front of a crowd and just be flat out silly or act as a character nothing like me at all. But there’s just some things normal theatre acting or acting for screen can cover, so I suggest to EVERYONE, and I don’t just mean EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE should give Improvcamp a go. Even if you’re not an improviser or an actor, it doesn’t matter what you are, either way you’ll develop life skills that will come in handy for you.  Looking forward to next year! Keep up the good work, Canadians!

Improvcamp 2009 was one of the best weeks of my life to date! The accommodation was set in a beautiful location, the food was delicious and the workshops were so useful not to mention fun!

I have come out feeling so much more confident in my acting and improvisational ability. All of the instructors and staff were so friendly and enthusiastic and that added so much more to the experience. The friends I have made on this camp are some of the most wonderful and interesting people I have met and I miss them all so much! I recommend this camp to every single actor/performer out there.

If you have a passion for drama, improvisation, making new friends, Canadian accents, copious amounts of food, then improvcamp is  for you! There are just so many different people out there and when all the diversity comes together a great concoction of fun is made. Honestly, this camp is worth every penny and every minute because it truly is the "Best Camp Ever."

Improvcamp is a great camp for anyone looking at getting into improvisation. Its great for meeting like-minded people and just having a good time. The Canadian Improv tutors where obviously some of the best in the world at there crafts and have a lot to teach Australian improvisers.
