WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Acting for Screen – Preparatory & Introductory

(13 - 20 year olds) December 2008

AIPA’S Acting for Screen programmes are industry relevant and of the highest standard available anywhere in the world, These programmes offer students the opportunity to study at five consecutive levels. Preparatory, Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced and Professional. More advanced students may apply for exemption from the lower levels, although final approval will be at the approval of US faculty.

The two-week courses have been designed to provide a comprehensive course for actors with measurable goals and outcomes. Classes are extremely demanding of the actor - but that’s what you would expect from UCLA and US performing Arts.

The school of Television, Film and Theatre (TFT) at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) is known worldwide for producing outstanding actors, writers, producers and directors.
Alumni include Jack Black (King Kong, The School of Rock, Shallow Hal), Carol Burnett (Mad About You, The Carol Burnett Show), Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons, Rugrats), James Dean (Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden), Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order, Can't Hurry Love), Mark Harmon (Navy NCIS, Chicago Hope, Freaky Friday), Tim Robbins (Mystic River, Shawshank Redemption, The Player, Bull Durham) & Tom Skerritt (Steel Magnolias, Contact)
TFT's undergraduate theater and film/television programs are ranked first out of 500 programs nationally (Princeton Review/Gourman Report) and the graduate theater and graduate film/television programs are consistently among the top three nationally (US News and World Report).

In this programme students participate in ten days of classes in acting for camera, improv, acting method, cold reading, audition technique and camera combat. The programme culminates in a private screening of the students work in LA. All classes are taught by qualified tutors (UCLA faculty) with experience in the motion picture and television industry.
