In 1978, Grease was the word, in 2012, GLEE is not just the word, but the way of life. The Australian Institute for Performing Arts (AIPA) is proud to offer passionate singers and dancers the opportunity to rehearse a show in Australia and then travel to LA to perform and take classes with industry leaders who will inspire them and teach them new and exciting techniques in an encouraging and supportive environment.

The programme has been designed for teenagers and young adults who live with a disability. Our staff believe that a disability shouldn’t be a disadvantage and we have assembled a fantastic team who agree.

In 2012, we are looking for Australian performers between the ages of 12 – 30. The group will perform a show at various venues. They will also have an opportunity to perform with GLEE Club Australia, who will be together on tour with the “Expressions” group

WHO IS THIS PROJECT SUITED TO?

This project is designed for students aged 12 – 30 who love to sing and dance. Each “Expressions” member will need a parent, friend, teacher or chaperone who knows the performer and can be with them to assist them to get ready for performances and provide daily support to the cast member. As the chaperone will know the cast member best, their presence is an essential ingredient to the success and harmony of this programme. Students need to be able to follow the direction of teachers and guest teachers. We are not able to cater for students who USE WHEELCHAIRS as a number of the venues in LA are not accessible.  We apologise for this.

AIPA has put this programme together to ensure that the course is a priceless experience for Australian performers, provides a unique and industry relevant experience and can help students grow and further their love of performing arts.  Students will participate in class programmes designed specifically for the group. Students will experience a range of different teaching and directional styles and work with amazing industry relevant people who are casting, directing, composing for and choreographing the shows that you watch.
