Solution if you have Problems Opening PDF Files
Are you having issues opening PDF files? There are a variety of reasons why this could be happening, so here a variety of solutions for you to try.
These fixes apply to any situation when this happens. Try the first 2 first:
- Rather than clicking the link to open it in your browser, save it to your desktop/computer and open it from there. This will work in most cases:
- WINDOWS: Right Click the link and select "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As" (if using Firefox or Chrome). Save and open from saved location.
- MAC: Right Click the link and select "Download Linked File" (Safari), "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As" (if using Firefox or Chrome). Save and open from saved location.
See the shoutbox below if you cannot right-click.
- Update your version of Adobe Reader here. You need this to read PDF files.
- If you receive a white page try to refresh the page (or hit F5) - the server may have timed out.
- Try disabling the "View In Browser" or "Web Browser Integration" feature in your Adobe Acrobat viewer (for plug-in and standard version). Doing this will force your Acrobat viewer to display PDF outside your browser in a separate window. In most cases this will fix your problem.

For Mac Users: ** Buy a Mighty Mouse (or a cheap two-button mouse) if you dont want to have to press control each time. You can configure it to have Right Click ability. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu, and then select Keyboard & Mouse. Select the Mouse tab. Make sure the RIGHT mouse button is set as the Secondary Button. Refer to your manual. ** You can configure your MacBook / MacBook Pro trackpad to enable right-click. Simply open the Trackpad options in System Preferences and make sure the Place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click button is checked. |
